What if an elevator could detect your needs, wait for you, and safely speed you straight to the right floor? It may seem far off, but surprisingly it’s already here. Hitachi has recently developed the world's fastest elevator*1, traveling at 1,260 meters per minute (75.6 kilometers per hour). Hitachi is bolstering its diverse lineup of elevators, including a double-deck elevator with higher passenger capacity, to enhance convenience and efficiency for urban "vertical mobility" infrastructures. *1: As of June 2017. However, there is a risk of small delays bringing virtually everything to a standstill because of the lengths and complexity of rail routes. Hitachi addressed this issue by evolving a system that keeps timetables stable for even the most complex networks. The system monitors train operations in real time and delivers up-to-date information, including the fastest route when multiple route options are available, to passengers if schedule issues arise. In England, the birthplace of modern railways, Hitachi is working on the biggest Intercity Express Programme in British history. We developed fast trains that match European standards and can handle non-electrified sections and other infrastructural complexities. This setup incorporates a system that can monitor rolling stock conditions in real time, thus enhancing safety, comfort, and maintenance. The system helps maintain safety, shows people how they can head in the right direction, and alleviates congestion, while optimizing on-the-spot services by analyzing pedestrian traffic. Hitachi's People Flow Analysis approach captures our movements and actions in real time to analyze congestion, areas that most interest people, and communication patterns and relationships between individuals, contributing to the creation of more attractive spaces and cities.
