It would be in commercial use by now, anyone with half a brain knows this. It would not in any way behoove our government or private companies to keep something like this secret. My Current TOE: THE SETUP: 1. Modern science currently recognizes four forces of nature: The strong nuclear force, the weak nuclear force, gravity, and electromagnetism. 2. In school we are taught that with magnetism, opposite polarities attract and like polarities repel. But inside the arc of a large horseshoe magnet it's the other way around, like polarities attract and opposite polarities repel. (I have proved this to myself with magnets and anybody with a large horseshoe magnet and two smaller bar magnets can easily prove this to yourself too). 3. Charged particles have an associated magnetic field with them. 4. Protons and electrons are charged particles and have their associated magnetic fields with them. 5. Photons also have both an electric and a magnetic component to them. FOUR FORCES OF NATURE DOWN INTO TWO: 6. When an electron is in close proximity to the nucleus, it would basically generate a 360 degree spherical magnetic field. 7. Like charged protons would stick together inside of this magnetic field, while simultaneously repelling opposite charged electrons inside this magnetic field, while simultaneously attracting the opposite charged electrons across the inner portion of the electron's moving magnetic field. 8. There are probably no such thing as "gluons" in actual reality. 9. The strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force are probably derivatives of the electro-magnetic field interactions between electrons and protons. 10. The nucleus is probably an electro-magnetic field boundary. 11. Quarks also supposedly have a charge to them and then would also most likely have electro-magnetic fields associated with them, possibly a different arrangement for each of the six different type of quarks. 12. The interactions between the quarks EM forces are how and why protons and neutrons formulate as well as how and why protons and neutrons stay inside of the nucleus and do not just pass through as neutrinos do. THE GEM FORCE INTERACTIONS AND QUANTA: 13. Personally, I currently believe that the directional force in photons is "gravity". 14. I also believe that a pulsating singularity (which is basically a pulsating photon) is the pure energy unit. 15. When these pulsating pure energy units interact with other pure energy units, they tangle together. Various shapes (strings, spheres, whatever) might be formed, which then create sub-atomic material, atoms, molecules, and everything in existence in this universe. 16. When the pure energy units unite together they would tend to stabilize and vibrate. 17. I believe there is probably a Photonic Theory Of The Atomic Structure. 18. Everything is basically "light" (photons) in a universe entirely filled with "light" (photons). THE MAGNETIC FORCE SPECIFICALLY: 19. When the electron with it's associated magnetic field goes around the proton with it's associated magnetic field, internal and external energy oscillations are set up. 20. When more than one atom is involved, and these energy frequencies align, they add together, specifically the magnetic field frequency. 21. I currently believe that this is where a line of flux originates from, aligned magnetic field frequencies. NOTES: 22. The Earth can be looked at as being a massive singular interacting photon with it's magnetic field, electrical surface field, and gravity, all three photonic forces all being 90 degrees from each other. 23. The flat spiral galaxy can be looked at as being a massive singular interacting photon with it's magnetic fields on each side of the plane of matter, the electrical field along the plane of matter, and gravity being directed towards the galactic center's black hole where the gravitational forces would meet, all three photonic forces all being 90 degrees from each other. 24. As below in the singularity, as above in the galaxy and probably universe as well. 25. I believe there are only two forces of nature, Gravity and EM, (GEM). Due to the stability of the GEM with the pure energy unit, this is also why the forces of nature haven't evolved by now. Of which with the current theory of understanding, how come the forces of nature haven't evolved by now since the original conditions acting upon the singularity aren't acting upon them like they originally were, billions of years have supposedly elapsed, in a universe that continues to expand and cool, with energy that could not be created nor destroyed would be getting less and less dense? My theory would seem to make more sense if in fact it is really true. I really wonder if it is in fact really true. 26. And the universe would be expanding due to these pulsating and interacting pure energy units and would also allow galaxies to collide, of which, how could galaxies ever collide if they are all speeding away from each other like is currently taught? DISCLAIMER: 27. As I as well as all of humanity truly do not know what we do not know, the above certainly could be wrong. It would have to be proved or disproved to know for more certainty. https://youtu.be/Jj1WTKhNJYw Start at: 2:16 Published on Jan 2, 2017 This video looks at the “super-secret” black projects that the government are testing in the Area S4 and Area 51 region of the Nevada Desert, and other technology that might just be harnessing anti gravity or alien propulsion technology. It presents slides and photographs of the area, where we believe is built a large underground research facility. What makes this evidence credible is that is coming from a former nasa and aerospace engineer, who worked on Interplanetary exploration. The video shows that a lot of the science fiction devices that are depicted in movies are already being created, or have already been created. The technology shown here proves that technology that the military has developed has anti-gravity capability. Trump: It’s ‘Disgraceful’ for Pope to Question My Christianity

POLITICS FEB 18 2016, 12:54 PM ET Trump: It’s ‘Disgraceful’ for Pope to Question My Christianity by ANDREW RAFFERTY and ALI VITALI SHARE Share Tweet Share Email Print Donald Trump issued a blistering response to Pope Francis on Thursday, saying it is "disgraceful" for the Catholic leader to question his faith and calling the pontiff "a pawn" for the Mexican government. "No leader, especially a religious leader, should have the right to question another man's religion or faith," Trump said at a rally in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. A press release followed shortly after he read the statement at the podium. Play Pope Questions Trump's Christianity - and Trump Fires Back Facebook Twitter Google Plus Embed Pope Questions Trump's Christianity - and Trump Fires Back 2:26 Moments before Trump's rally was set to begin, Francis told reporters, "A person who only thinks about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian." Building a wall on the United States' southern border is one of the main tenets of Trump's candidacy. The pope's comments came during his flight back to Rome after a six-day visit to Mexico. Trump, who told a crowd of supporters that he "liked the pope" before learning of the statements, said the Mexican government manipulated Francis. Play Trump Takes Aim at Pope Francis on Campaign Trail Facebook Twitter Google Plus Embed Trump Takes Aim at Pope Francis on Campaign Trail 1:38 "They are using the pope as a pawn and they should be ashamed of themselves for doing so, especially when so many lives are involved and when illegal immigration is so rampant," Trump said. The real-estate mogul said Francis has only heard "one side of the story" and does not see the problems caused in the U.S. by illegal immigration. Trump's Social Media Director took to Twitter to call out his perceived hypocrisy of the pope calling Trump out for wanting to build a wall when the Vatican is surrounded by them. View image on Twitter View image on Twitter Follow Dan Scavino Jr. ✔ @DanScavino Amazing comments from the Pope- considering Vatican City is 100% surrounded by massive walls. 1:17 AM - 19 Feb 2016 3,229 3,229 Retweets 2,986 2,986 likes "If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS's ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been president," Trump added. During his comments, however, the pope said he was not trying to influence Americans on who they should vote for, adding only that "this man is not Christian if he has said things like that." Francis remains wildly popular among Catholics, who make up about a quarter of the general electorate. A CNN/ORC Poll released ahead of the pope's visit to the United State last September found that nearly three-quarters of Catholics held a positive view of Francis. Other Catholic Republican presidential candidates like Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio have found themselves at odds with Pope Francis over immigration and climate change. However, both have attempted to make clear they disagree with some of his ideas while showing respect for the leader of the Catholic church. Trump, who is not Catholic, did not take such a measured response. "For a religious leader to question a person's faith is disgraceful. I am proud to be a Christian," Trump said. Trump however, who is currently leading in South Carolina, has repeatedly questioned Ted Cruz's Christianity. Days earlier he tweeted: "How can Ted Cruz be an Evangelical Christian when he lies so much and is so dishonest?"

The Past Six Presidents Have All Used The Executive Power To Block Certain Classes Of Immigrants unforgiven

The Past Six Presidents Have All Used The Executive Power To Block Certain Classes Of Immigrants Donald Trump has received much flak from Democrats and Republicans alike for his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the U.S through executive authority. However, the past six presidents have all used the executive power to bar different classes of immigrants. Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 states: “Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.” President Barack Obama has used the authority this statute provides six times in his tenure. In July 2011, Obama barred the entry of “anyone under a UN travel ban; anyone who violates any of 29 executive orders regarding transactions with terrorists, those who undermine the democratic process in specific countries, or transnational criminal organizations.” In April of 2012, he barred the entry of anyone “facilitating computer or network disruption that could assist in or enable serious human rights abuses by or on behalf of the government of Iran and Syria; anyone who have sold or provided goods, services, or technology to Iran or Syria likely to be used for such purposes; or to have materially assisted anyone whose property or interests are described.” Former President George W.Bush used this authority six times as well during his tenure, typically on government officials. In January 2004, he signed an order “barring entry for public officials who solicit or accept bribes in exchange for any act or omission in their public duties that has serious adverse effects on the national interests of the U.S.; anyone who provides or offers to provide such a bribe; any current or former public official whose misappropriation of public funds or interference with public processes has had serious adverse effects on the national interests of the U.S.; or the immediate families.” The groups Bush barred for entry included members of the Mugabe government in Zimbabwe and the Lukashenka government in Belarus. The authority of the president to bar certain classes of aliens was used six times by former President Bill Clinton. For example, in May of 1994 Clinton signed an order “barring entry for members of the Haitian military, their immediate families, any major participants in the coup d’Γ©tat of 1991.” Then in January of 1998, Clinton signed an order “barring entry for members of the military junta in Sierra Leone, and their families.” Former President George H.W Bush only used this executive authority once in his four years of office. When he did use it, it was actually to undo a previous executive order by President Ronald Reagan that suspended entry of officers and employees of the Nicaraguan government. Former President Ronald Reagan used this executive authority five times while in office. In September of 1981, he barred the entry of “any undocumented aliens arriving at the borders of the United States from the high seas.” In August of 1986, Reagan signed an order “barring entry for any Cuban nationals or immigrants except in certain cases.” These “certain cases” included Cuban nationals who had applied for entry into the U.S as immediate family members and those who under law were “special immigrants.” Former President Jimmy Carter used this executive power only once and in a way quite similar to what Trump has proposed. In April 1980, as the U.S embassy in Tehran was under terrorist control, Carter signed an order invalidating “all visas issued to Iranian citizens for future entry into the United States.” The order said that the U.S “will not reissue visas, nor will we issue new visas, except for compelling and proven humanitarian reasons or where the national interest of our own country requires.” Law Professor Jan Ting of Temple University told The Daily Caller that “absolutely and without any doubt” does existing law allow Trump to restrict immigration of certain nationalities or religious groups.

Jerry Lynn Hayes Follow · December 19, 2014 · Edited · What is the TRUE Apostolic teaching on the Christian woman's headcovering? (Post XV) FOUR SPIRITUAL AND SCRIPTURAL ARGUMENTS (1 Corinthians 11: 7-10) In verses 7 through 10 of 1 Corinthians 11 the Apostle presents his argumentation for the headcovering, and the order of headship that the headcovering represents. As we continue, it will become clear to the reader that these arguments are at once spiritual and scriptural. We will proceed in our examination of this passage by using verse 10 as the pivotal point for the text:“For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels” (verse 10). “For This Cause.” The statement “for this cause” is with the accusative case in the Greek language, which indicates the cause or reason of the act. The “act” in this situation is that the women ought to be covered. “For this cause,” refers to the preceding statements in verses 7 through 9, and also includes the cause given in verse 10; namely, “because of the angels.” The Bible states in this passage (verses 7-9) that the man, indeed, “Ought not to cover his head for in as much as he is the image and glory of God, but the woman is the glory of the man; for the man is not of the woman but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman but the woman for the man. For this cause ... because of the angels.” My friends, this is what the Bible is teaching. As much as this may rub our fur the wrong way, or ruffle our feathers, we must, as mature Christians, submit our conscience to the Word of God. As we look closely at these verses, there are four arguments given in support for the injunction for the Christian woman to have her head covered in the place of meeting. Argument one: She is the glory of the man; Argument two: She was created from the man; Argument three: She was created for the benefit of the man; Argument four: She should be covered because of the angels. We will proceed to examine these causes in a close manner. a Government Under God

The Origin and Function of Government Under God Favorites Print Rate Me preaching article The Origin and Function of Government Under God The Origin and Function of Government Under God based on 1 rating R. C. Sproul (website: Ligonier.org) Jan 25, 2017 Scripture: Romans 13:1-2 1 Peter 2:13 Matthew 28:18 Acts 1:8 (Suggest Scripture) Tags: God And Government God's Sovereign Will God's Sovereignty Government King Of Kings (Suggest Tag) Obeying authority is hard. We bristle anytime we hear someone say: “You must do this. You ought to do that.” We want to be able to say: “Don’t tell me what to do. I want to do what I want to do.” We want people to empower and entitle us. We hate receiving mandates. That’s our nature. In light of this, I like to talk about a Christian worldview and how it differs from a pagan worldview. One way to differentiate the two would be to consider each worldview’s understanding of responsibility toward authority. If I were not a Christian, I certainly wouldn’t embrace submission to authority. But being a Christian makes me hesitate before I live in active disobedience to those whom God has put in authority over me. To understand why, we must look at the New Testament’s explanation of the origin and function of government under God. This issue is clearly dealt with by the Apostle Paul in the thirteenth chapter of his epistle to the Romans. Romans 13 begins: “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment”(vv. 1–2). Paul begins this study of the government with an Apostolic command for everyone to submit to governing authorities. This lays a framework for Christian civil disobedience. Paul’s teaching in Romans 13:1–2 is not an isolated instance in the New Testament. Paul is simply reiterating here what he teaches elsewhere, what is also taught by Peter in his epistles—and by our Lord Himself—that there is a fundamental obligation of the Christian to be a model of civil obedience. We as the people of God are called upon to be as obedient as we possibly can in good conscience to the powers that be. Remember that Paul is writing this to people who are under the oppression of the Roman government. He’s telling people to be submissive to a government that would eventually execute him. But he doesn’t do so in a blind sense that precludes any possibility of civil disobedience. For now, I want us to see that Paul is setting the stage in Romans 13 for explaining why the Christian is supposed to be particularly scrupulous and sensitive in civil obedience. Paul begins to set forth his case by saying, “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.” Why? “For there is no authority except from God.” Peter puts it another way. He tells us to submit ourselves to the earthly authorities for the Lord’s sake (1 Peter 2:13). That means that if I show no respect to a person whom God has set in authority between Himself and me, my disrespect carries beyond that person and ultimately lands on God as the giver of the authority. The biblical concept of authority is hierarchical. At the top of the hierarchy is God. All authority rests ultimately in God, and there is no authority invested in any institution or in any person except through the delegation of that authority from God. Any authority that I have in any area of my life is a derived, appointed, and delegated authority. It is not intrinsic but extrinsic. It is given ultimately by the One who has inherent authority. Within this hierarchy structure, God the Father gives all authority on heaven and earth to Christ, His Son (Matt. 28:18). God has enthroned Christ as the King of kings. So if Christ is the prime minister of the universe, it means that all the kings of this world have a King who reigns over them and that all the earthly lords have a superior Lord to whom they are accountable. We know that there are vast multitudes of people in this world who do not recognize Christ as their King, and because His kingdom is invisible right now, they say, “Where is this king? I don’t see any reigning king.” In light of this, the task of the church is of cosmic political proportions. In Acts 1:8, Jesus gave a mandate to His disciples: “And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). They were to be witnesses, but witnesses to what? The immediate context of this verse is a discussion about the kingdom. Jesus was going to heaven, but He said, “In my absence you are to bear witness to the transcendent, supernatural truth of my ascension.” That’s why our first loyalty as Christians must be to our heavenly King. We are called to respect, honor, pray for, and be in subjection to our earthly authorities, but the minute we exalt the earthly authority over the authority of Christ, we have betrayed Him, and we have committed treason against the King of kings. His authority is higher than the authority of the president of the United States or Congress or the king of Spain or any ruler anywhere else. If you don’t like the president of the United States, remember that the One who cast the deciding ballot in his election was almighty God. Of course, God doesn’t sanction or endorse everything that the president does; neither is it the case that God turns the authority over to the president and says, “Go ahead and rule these people however you want.” Every king is subject to the laws of God and will be judged accordingly. It may be that the president is completely ungodly, but for reasons known to God alone, God has placed him in that seat of authority. R. C. Sproul (website: Ligonier.org) View Articles R. C. They started taxing barter transactions, requiring everyone to pay income tax on the market value of the goods or services being traded. So, while barter is a great idea, if you don't plan to pay taxes on it, and if you plan to do a lot of it, it's a "cross-your-fingers" proposition where you just hope you stay below the IRS' radar. As the first chapter of the book of Revelation explains, the apostle John was given a vision of end-time events leading up to the return of Jesus Christ.

Seven Churches of Revelation by David Treybig The apostle John was given important messages to the seven churches of Revelation. How are we to understand this section of Scripture today? Seven Churches of Revelation Map of the seven churches Jesus Christ addressed in Revelation 2 and 3 (artwork by Kelly Cunningham). As the first chapter of the book of Revelation explains, the apostle John was given a vision of end-time events leading up to the return of Jesus Christ. Part of the instruction that John received was: “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea” (verse 11). The order of these cities corresponds to “the route along which a courier from Patmos [where John received the vision] would have carried the scroll” (ESV Study Bible, Revelation 2:11). Trying to understand what these messages mean for Christians today has been puzzling. These seven churches, named by their locations, were not the sum total of all the congregations of the Church of God in the first century. Additional congregations were located at Corinth (1 Corinthians 1:2), Philippi (Philippians 1:1) and Colosse (Colossians 1:2), just to name a few of the additional cities where churches of God existed in the New Testament. So why did God the Father, the author of this message (Revelation 1:1), select these seven congregations? What relevance do these messages have for us today? As we will see, God selected these seven congregations to give timeless instruction for His people throughout the centuries. Because this instruction is both historical and prophetic—John was told to write about “the things which are, and the things which will take place after this” (verse 19, emphasis added)—this information must be understood from more than one perspective. Here are three ways this section of Scripture can be understood. Instruction for the first-century churches The seven churches of Revelation 2 and 3 were congregations of the Church of God in the first century. Located in Asia Minor (now modern Turkey), these churches represented actual communities of early Christians—not buildings or meeting halls. In addressing each of these congregations, God said that He knew their works. Knowing the challenges they were facing and how they were responding, He admonished them to repent of their mistakes and to remain faithful in order to receive salvation. Although their circumstances varied, this message was similar for each church. In closer examination of these messages, it is interesting to note that God clearly understood the difficulties and influences that the members of the congregation in each city had to endure and resist. For example, He knew that the members at Ephesus had lost their “first love” and that they were resisting the negative influence of the Nicolaitans (Revelation 2:4, 6). God also knew the “tribulation, and poverty” those in Smyrna were facing (verse 9). One important lesson from Revelation 2 and 3 is that God knew the issues facing the churches and members of the first century. Similar to Paul’s letters to various congregations in other cities, these short messages to the seven congregations were intended to encourage the members in these cities to hold fast to God’s way of life so they could be rewarded in the future. Progressive history of the Church Students of the Bible have also noted that the messages to the seven churches imply a progressive history of things “which will take place after this” (Revelation 1:19). Some have described this as the chronological development of the Church or church eras. Addressing this perspective, the late professor Dr. John F. Walvoord notes: “Many expositors believe that in addition to the obvious implication of these messages the seven churches represent the chronological development of church history viewed spiritually. They note that Ephesus seems to be characteristic of the Apostolic Period in general and that the progression of evil climaxing in Laodicea seems to indicate the final state of apostasy of the church. … The order of the messages to the churches seems to be divinely selected to give prophetically the main movement of church history” (John Walvoord, The Revelation of Jesus Christ, 1989, pp. 51-52). Another scholar, C.I. Scofield (1843-1921), editor of the Scofield Study Bible, gives a similar explanation: “Again, these messages by their very terms go beyond the local assemblies mentioned. It can be seen that Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-7), though a local church in the apostle’s day, is typical of the first century as a whole; Smyrna (Revelation 2:8-11) characterizes the church under persecution, e.g. from A.D. c. 100-316; Pergamos (Revelation 2:12-17), ‘where Satan dwells’ … is suggestive of the church mixing with the world, e.g. in the Middle Ages; Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29) reveals how evil progresses in the church and idolatry is practiced; Sardis (Revelation 3:1-6) is representative of the church as dead, yet still having a minority of godly men and women, as during the Reformation; Philadelphia (Revelation 3:7-13) shows revival and a state of spiritual advance; and Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-19) is illustrative of the final state of apostasy which the visible church will experience” (Scofield Study Bible, Revelation 1:20). While the Bible does not give us specific dates for the time periods or eras of the Church’s development and many of these periods of time overlap, there are indications of this historical progression within these messages to the churches. Here are a few of these apparent indications of the Church’s developing history: Ephesus, the first church mentioned in the messages to the seven churches of Revelation, served as the center for John’s ministry at the end of the first century. The island of Patmos, where John received the vision recorded in the book of Revelation, was only 50 miles from Ephesus. It is well-known that John preached about love—some refer to him as the apostle of love—to help Christians at that time recapture their “first love” (Revelation 2:4; 1 John 3:10-11, 14, 16-18, 23). Smyrna, the second church mentioned, was told that it would “have tribulation ten days” (Revelation 2:10). Commenting on this verse, Adam Clarke states: “As the days in this book are what is commonly called prophetic days, each answering to a year, the ten years of tribulation may denote ten years of persecution; and this was precisely the duration of the persecution under Diocletian, during which all the Asiatic Churches were grievously afflicted. Others understand the expression as implying frequency and abundance, as it does in other parts of Scripture” (Adam Clarke Commentary, Revelation 2:10). Regardless of the exact meaning of “ten days” in Revelation 2:10, history shows that the Church of God faced great persecution in its earliest centuries. As shown, this is implied in the message to Smyrna and is also included in the third message (to Pergamos), in which God refers to “Antipas … My faithful martyr” (Revelation 2:13). The messages to the last four churches speak of Christ’s return—an indication that at least a remnant of Thyatira, Sardis and Philadelphia will still exist, along with Laodicea, in the end time (Revelation 2:25; Revelation 3:3, 11, 20). Indicating that the progression of history prior to Christ’s return has nearly run its course, Philadelphia is promised protection during “the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth” (Revelation 3:10). Advice for Christians throughout the ages A third way the messages to the seven churches can be understood is as advice and warnings to Christians throughout all ages. The responses of each church to the advice given can also be understood as attitudes. The relevance of these messages to Christians throughout history becomes obvious with the closing to each of the seven churches: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 29; Revelation 3:6, 13, 22). While more complete explanations of the relevance of each message are available in the articles on each congregation, here is an abbreviated summary of the lessons we can learn from the instruction God gave each church: Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-7): Don’t lose your love for God’s truth or His people. Smyrna (Revelation 2:8-11): Remain faithful in the face of tribulation and poverty. Pergamos (Revelation 2:12-17): Resist Satan’s influence, even to death, if necessary. Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29): Resist false teaching. Sardis (Revelation 3:1-6): Remain zealous and pure in conduct. Philadelphia (Revelation 3:7-13): Persevere and walk through the doors God opens. Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-22): Don’t become lukewarm about God’s way of life. Abuse of church eras Similar to the way much of the Bible’s teaching has been misunderstood and misapplied, some have misused the messages to the seven churches in claiming that their organization or group of people represents a particular church era, such as Philadelphia, and that other believers represent another era, such as Laodicea. No matter what humans may claim, we have to remember that Christ will be the ultimate Judge (Acts 10:42; Acts 17:31; 2 Timothy 4:1). As for judging others to be Laodiceans, it is ironic to note that the nature of those in Laodicea was to misjudge their spiritual condition. Again, the timeless instruction for us today is to hear and apply all of the messages given to the churches. The wise course of action is to heed all of the messages and let Christ do the judging—a role He will most certainly fulfill! Modern relevance of the messages The messages to the seven churches of Revelation 2-3 show us that the Church of God and its members were destined to face many trials throughout the centuries before Jesus Christ would return. Yet God promised to reward His Church and individual members if they would remain faithful to Him. These rewards include eating from the tree of life (Revelation 2:7), being given the crown of life (verse 10), being given a new name (verse 17), being given power over the nations (verse 26), having one’s name written in the Book of Life (Revelation 3:5), becoming a pillar in God’s temple (verse 12) and sitting with Christ on His throne (verse 21). This encouragement from God reminds us that serving Him is well worth the effort. What are you doing with the spiritual knowledge you have received? The Science of Older and Wiser By PHYLLIS KORKKIMARCH 12, 2014 Continue reading the main storyShare This Page Share Tweet Email More Save Since ancient times, the elusive concept of wisdom has figured prominently in philosophical and religious texts. The question remains compelling: What is wisdom, and how does it play out in individual lives? Most psychologists agree that if you define wisdom as maintaining positive well-being and kindness in the face of challenges, it is one of the most important qualities one can possess to age successfully — and to face physical decline and death. Vivian Clayton, a geriatric neuropsychologist in Orinda, Calif., developed a definition of wisdom in the 1970s, when she was a graduate student, that has served as a foundation for research on the subject ever since. After scouring ancient texts for evocations of wisdom, she found that most people described as wise were decision makers. So she asked a group of law students, law professors and retired judges to name the characteristics of a wise person. Based on an analysis of their answers, she determined that wisdom consists of three key components: cognition, reflection and compassion. Unfortunately, research shows that cognitive functioning slows as people age. But speed isn’t everything. A recent study in Topics in Cognitive Science pointed out that older people have much more information in their brains than younger ones, so retrieving it naturally takes longer. And the quality of the information in the older brain is more nuanced. While younger people were faster in tests of cognitive performance, older people showed “greater sensitivity to fine-grained differences,” the study found. It stands to reason that the more information people have in their brains, the more they can detect familiar patterns. Elkhonon Goldberg, a neuroscientist in New York and author of “The Wisdom Paradox,” says that “cognitive templates” develop in the older brain based on pattern recognition, and that these can form the basis for wise behavior and decisions. Continue reading the main story According to Dr. Clayton, one must take time to gain insights and perspectives from one’s cognitive knowledge to be wise (the reflective dimension). Then one can use those insights to understand and help others (the compassionate dimension). Working from Dr. Clayton’s framework, Monika Ardelt, an associate sociology professor at the University of Florida in Gainesville, felt a need to expand on studies of old age because of research showing that satisfaction late in life consists of things like maintaining physical and mental health, volunteering and having positive relationships with others. But this isn’t always possible if the body breaks down, if social roles are diminished and if people suffer major losses. “So these people cannot age successfully? They have to give up?” she recalled asking herself. Wisdom, she has found, is the ace in the hole that can help even severely impaired people find meaning, contentment and acceptance in later life. She developed a scale consisting of 39 questions aimed at measuring three dimensions of wisdom. People responding to statements on Professor Ardelt’s wisdom scale — things like “a problem has little attraction for me if I don’t think it has a solution,” or “I can be comfortable with all kinds of people” and “I’m easily irritated by people who argue with me” — were not told they were being measured for wisdom. Respondents later answered questions about hypothetical challenges and crises, and those who showed evidence of high wisdom were also more likely to have better coping skills, Professor Ardelt found. In general, for example, they said they would be more active than passive about dealing with hardship. An impediment to wisdom is thinking, “I can’t stand who I am now because I’m not who I used to be,” said Isabella S. Bick, a psychotherapist who, at 81, still practices part time out of her home in Sharon, Conn. She has aging clients who are upset by a perceived worsening of their looks, their sexual performance, their physical abilities, their memory. For them, as for herself, an acceptance of aging is necessary for growth, but “it’s not a resigned acceptance; it’s an embracing acceptance,” she said. “Wise people are able to accept reality as it is, with equanimity,” Professor Ardelt said. Her research shows that when people in nursing homes or with a terminal illness score high on her wisdom scale, they also report a greater sense of well-being. “If things are really bad, it’s good to be wise,” she said. The Berlin Wisdom Project, a research effort begun in the 1980s that sought to define wisdom by studying ancient and modern texts, called it “an expert knowledge system concerning the fundamental pragmatics of life.” A co-founder of the project, Ursula M. Staudinger, went on to distinguish between general wisdom, the kind that involves understanding life from an observer’s point of view (for example, as an advice giver), and personal wisdom, which involves deep insight into one’s own life. True personal wisdom involves five elements, said Professor Staudinger, now a life span psychologist and professor at Columbia University. They are self-insight; the ability to demonstrate personal growth; self-awareness in terms of your historical era and your family history; understanding that priorities and values, including your own, are not absolute; and an awareness of life’s ambiguities. Wisdom in this sense is extremely rare, Professor Staudinger said, and research has shown that it actually declines in the final decades. As a coping strategy, it is better to be positive about life when you are older, she said, and the older people skew that way. They are more likely to look back on their lives and say that the events that occurred were for the best; a wise person would fully acknowledge mistakes and losses, and still try to improve. Photo INFLUENTIAL Joan and Erik Erikson devised a theory on human development. Credit Sarah Putnam True wisdom involves recognizing the negative both within and outside ourselves and trying to learn from it, she said. Modern definitions of wisdom tend to stress kindness — even if it’s not on the order of Buddha, Gandhi or the Dalai Lama. Wisdom is characterized by a “reduction in self-centeredness,” Professor Ardelt said. Wise people try to understand situations from multiple perspectives, not just their own, and they show tolerance as a result. “There’s evidence that people who rank high in neuroticism are unlikely to be wise,” said Laura L. Carstensen, a psychology professor and founding director of the Stanford Center on Longevity in California. “They see things in a self-centered and negative way and so they fail to benefit emotionally from experience, even though they may be very intelligent.” DealBook DealBook delivers the news driving the markets and the conversation. SEE SAMPLE PRIVACY POLICY Professor Carstensen does not consider herself a wisdom researcher because “there’s a piece of me that thinks it’s not useful to use a term that’s been around for 1,000 years.” Some researchers are skeptical about testing for such an amorphous trait as wisdom. But Professor Carstensen does study emotional regulation, and says that is a key component of wisdom. If you are wise, she said, “You’re not only regulating your emotional state, you’re also attending to another person’s emotional state.” She added: “You’re not focusing so much on what you need and deserve, but on what you can contribute.” Daniel Goleman, author of “Focus” and “Emotional Intelligence,” said, “One aspect of wisdom is having a very wide horizon which doesn’t center on ourselves,” or even on our group or organization. He said an important sign of wisdom was “generativity,” a term used by the psychologist Erik Erikson, who developed an influential theory on stages of the human life span. Generativity means giving back without needing anything in return, Dr. Goleman said. The form of giving back could be creative, social, personal or financial, and “the wisest people do that in a way that doesn’t see their lifetime as limiting when this might happen,” he said. Dr. Goleman interviewed Erikson, along with his wife, Joan, in the late 1980s, when both were in their 80s. Erikson’s theory of human development had initially included eight stages, from infancy to old age. When the Eriksons themselves reached old age, though, they found a need to add a ninth stage of development, one in which wisdom plays a crucial role. “They depict an old age in which one has enough conviction in one’s own completeness to ward off the despair that gradual physical disintegration can too easily bring,” Dr. Goleman wrote in The Times. In the final years of life, “Even the simple activities of daily living may present difficulty and conflict,” Joan Erikson wrote in an expanded version of her husband’s book, “The Life Cycle Completed.” “No wonder elders become tired and often depressed.” The book adds: “To face down despair with faith and appropriate humility is perhaps the wisest course.” “One must join in the process of adaptation. With whatever tact and wisdom we can muster, disabilities must be accepted with lightness and humor.” Whatever the nature of one’s limitations, simplifying one’s life is also a sign of wisdom, Dr. Clayton said, for example, by giving your things away while you are still alive. Some people have trouble with the idea of settling for less — “they’ve gotten so used to the game of acquiring more,” she said. Settling for less and simplifying is not the same as giving up. In fact, when older people lack challenges, self-absorption and stagnation may take over, the Eriksons said. The key is to set goals that match one’s current capacities. Continuing education can be an important way to cultivate wisdom in the later years, researchers say, for one thing because it combats isolation. But training in practical skills may be less useful for older people than courses in the humanities that help people make sense of their lives, Professor Ardelt says. She and other researchers recommend classes in guided autobiography, or life review, as a way of strengthening wisdom. In guided autobiography, students write and share their life stories with the help of a trained instructor. Dr. Clayton says there’s a point in life when a fundamental shift occurs, and people start thinking about how much time they have left rather than how long they have lived. Reflecting on the meaning and structure of their lives, she said, can help people thrive after the balance shifts and there is much less time left than has gone before. My Olive Tree was birthed out of a heart to support the land and the people of Israel.

My Olive Tree was birthed out of a heart to support the land and the people of Israel. It was in 2004 when I first sat down with the then, Finance Minister, now Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and we discussed a huge humanitarian aid initiative that I was involved in—a project that was bringing in over 20 million dollars worth of aid into the nation of Israel. It was an enormous undertaking, and the Finance Minister was grateful and polite when he opened up to express his heartfelt concern for the people of Israel. You see, he did not want Israel to become a country dependent on charity, but rather, a country that prospers through economic independence. It was a few years later while attending a meeting in Israel, when the “concept” of My Olive Tree was presented to us... My first reaction was, “No way!” But the Israelis in the meeting eagerly said, “You can plant a million olive trees… a plan to help make Israel economically independent… You can do this!” My answer again was, “No… this is not for me.” And then I felt the prompting of the Lord to step outside of our meeting place. He then began to show me a vision of a blue and green globe, and said, “Do you see all of those little green spots? I planted all of those without your help.” That was when My Olive Tree began… and it has since grown and is still growing! Today, through the help of thousands of people around the world, we have planted over 20,000 partner sponsored olive trees throughout Israel—a far cry from the HUGE vision of one million—but we are diligently moving forward to reach that goal!

God gave the apostles the calling and assignment to proclaim the truth and the Word of God in the Gospel. If they are distracted from that priority, it will leave the church vulnerable to false teachers, not to speak of the fact that the Gospel will not penetrate the world as it should. At the same time, Jesus commanded the church to love one another and to care for one another. That’s also a priority. And if they failed to care for each other it would be reflect poorly on the Gospel they proclaimed.

Text: Acts 6:1-7 Title: “Unstoppable Ministry” Open your Bibles to Acts 6:1. Tonight is our Evening of Prayer and Praise where our church gets down to serious praying and we want to pray for you. Later in our worship time you’ll have an opportunity to share prayer requests with us. So if you have a need write it on the prayer card in your worship folder and put in the offering basket later. Also let me remind you that this Wednesday evening is our church conference where we present our budget for 2015-16. We invite you to come to hear the presentation and participate in the discussion. We’ll adopt the budget on March 8 in our morning worship services. Read Acts 6:1-7. ILLUSTRATION – When I was in college I was a youth pastor at a church in the day when everyone wore coats and ties (at least the men did). I got up late one Sunday morning and didn’t have a clean dress shirt so I grabbed one out of the dirty clothes. It was all wrinkled so I quickly ironed the collar and the cuffs, thinking that was the only part anyone would see. It was so stinking hot that day that I wanted to take my coat off by I couldn’t because I didn’t want anyone to see my wrinkled shirt. ILLUSTRATION – I’m not going to ask for a show of hands, but ladies, do you have a housekeeper come to your house from time to time, maybe every week? How many of you spend a lot of time cleaning your house before the housekeeper comes? There are some things you just don’t want anyone else to see. It would be tempting for the Holy Spirit and Dr. Luke (the human author of Acts) to hide this next episode in the church. After all, we see here that as powerful as the early church was, they had problems, just like every church does. They didn’t get everything right. Acts 6:1a - In those days when the number of disciples was increasing… The church is moving forward in the power of the Holy Spirit. People are being saved; disciples are being made. But even the best of churches will face challenges. But God is glorified, the Gospel is extended and our ministry is unstoppable when we remain true to our biblical priorities. It’s easy for us to lose sight of our priorities. In fact, Satan would love nothing more than to stop the Gospel ministry of the church. Satan’s attacks on the church are unrelenting. First he tries to defeat the church through persecution. We see that in Acts 4-5 when the apostles are arrested for preaching the Gospel. (Tonight in our Evening of Prayer and Praise we’ll spend time praying for the persecuted church around the world. The beheading of the 21 Coptic Christians last week in Libya is a great reminder to us.) Then Satan tries to corrupt the church through impurity and hypocrisy. We see that in Acts 5 with the deception of Ananias and Sapphira. If Satan can’t defeat the church through persecution or corrupt the church through impurity and hypocrisy, he will try to distract the church by misplaced priorities. And that is what we see happening here in Acts 6. THE PROBLEM Acts 6:1 - In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. There are cultural differences in the church. Most of the earliest Christians came from a Jewish background. But among the Jewish believers some came from Greek speaking regions and others came from Hebrew speaking regions. Now they are all together in the church, but these cultural differences remain. We’re not told if this was a deliberate neglect, or if it was just an oversight. For whatever reason the Grecian widows who were needy had been neglected when the apostles distributed food. Remember that we learned earlier in Acts that one of the sweet things that was happening is that there was no needy person among them. People gave sacrificially so that no one was in need. Now this system is being threatened. THE SOLUTION Acts 6:2 - So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Now it sounds like someone suggested that one solution to this problem was to ask the apostles to tend to this need. But the apostles were wise enough to know that for them to spend the time to meet that need would mean them having to neglect something they had already been called to do … the ministry of teaching and preaching the word. The apostles are not saying, “We are above this kind of service. Find someone else to do it.” They are saying that they have a calling that requires a huge amount of time, and for them to add another responsibility (no matter how important it is) would cause them to neglect something important. So to solve this problem… Acts 6:3 - Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them Acts 6:4 - and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” Now what is happening here is that the apostles are putting into place a system that will become part of all New Testament churches. The apostles in the church in Jerusalem are setting the pattern for pastoral leaders in the churches that will come as the Gospel spreads and churches are planted. They are also setting a pattern for servant leaders later to be called deacons. These seven men are not called deacons, but the presumption is that they are the first deacons in the church. For example, when the Gospel spread to Macedonia (Greece) and a church was established in the ancient city of Philippi, Paul addressed them: Philippians 1:1 - Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons: So there are two offices in every NT church: the office of the pastor (also called overseers or elders) and the office of deacon. Acts 6:5 - This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. Incidentally, these are all Greek names. The church chose men who understood the needs of all people, but particularly the ones in the minority … the Grecian widows who were being neglected. Acts 6:6 - They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them. This pattern of testing and qualifying men for the office of deacon is spelled out in I Timothy 3. We use this passage in our interviewing of men the church nominates to serve as deacons in our church. THE RESULTS Acts 6:7 - So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith. Satan’s attack was unsuccessful; and the ministry of the church is unstoppable. Our text begins with the note that the number of disciples was increasing. It ends with a note that the word of God spread and the number of disciples rapidly increased. And even a large number of Jewish priests were saved (a group you might expect to be resistant to the Gospel). When we remain true to our biblical priorities our ministry is unstoppable. The Word of God continues to be taught and preached to establish the church and expand the Kingdom of God. And the neediest people in the church (widows) were cared for in an effective way. Now there are three points of application I draw from these verses: 1. THE IMPORTANCE OF MINISTRY IN THE CHURCH Just reading this passage shows us that there was a network of ministry that permeated their fellowship. In Acts 6:1 there is a “daily distribution of food.” The word for “distribution” is the word that is often translated “ministry.” In Acts 6:2 this is called waiting on or serving tables (again, the same word that is translated “ministry).” Then in Acts 6:4 the apostles have a “ministry of the word,” using the same word for “ministry” as in vv.1-2. There is the ministry of the twelve apostles and there is the ministry of these seven servants, later to be called deacons. But there is much more ministry than that going on in the church. Why? Because that is the heart of our Savior. Matthew 20:28 - just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Where people are filled with the Spirit of Jesus there will be service. 1 Peter 4:10 - Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. We tend to put the spotlight on certain kinds of ministry in the church, but there are many important ministries that operate in a hidden way that we could not do without. PHOTO - ILLUSTRATION – Legendary college basketball coach Dean Smith died a few weeks ago. He was a trend-setter in basketball circles. In fact, it was Dean Smith who started something that is common today in basketball. Maybe you’ve seen a player after scoring a basket as they turn to run back down the court they point to someone. Dean Smith started that by teaching his players to point to the assist man. Give some recognition to the player who found the open man and passed the balled to him. There are hundreds of roles in ministry in the church, all of which help us keep our priority on proclaiming the Word of God and caring for people. 2. THE DISTINCTIONS OF MINISTRY IN THE CHURCH ILLUSTRATION – Just think about the Marvel Superheroes. There’s a bunch of them. Maybe your favorite is the Hulk or Black Widow or Captain America or Iron Man. But they work as a team. The Hulk’s solution to everything is to smash it. Captain America may not be the physically strongest, but he’s a leader. Iron Man knows technology. They all have different weapons and strengths (and weaknesses). No one of us has the time, the gifts and the energy to do everything that needs to be done in the church. That’s why God gave us differing gifts. There are countless ways of serving in and through the church. Here in Acts 6 are just two ways. There is a distinction between what the apostles (pastoral leaders) are called and gifted to do and what these seven men (deacons) are gifted and called to do. Pastoral leaders are called to teach and preach to equip the church: Ephesians 4:11-12 - It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up So all of God’s people are to be engaged in works of service (ministry). Just as pastors equip the saints for works of ministry; deacons provide the leadership in doing the works of ministry. Some churches have a “deacon board” that runs the church. But that is not the way the Holy Spirit established the office of deacon in the church. I’m grateful that we have a biblical deacon body. They are a body of servants, who lead the church in caring for everyone. But beyond those two offices there are countless distinctive ways that ministry goes on in the church. We need to celebrate that diversity that Christ has given to His Body, the church. Find your unique place of service and glorify Go 3. THE EMPOWERING FOR MINISTRY IN THE CHURCH The Seven were to be men filled with the Spirit and wisdom. Acts 6:3a - Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. Obviously the apostles were men filled with the Spirit. We see it repeatedly in the book of Acts to this point. Acts 6:4 - and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” They knew that the power of the Holy Spirit for unstoppable ministry flows from prayer and the proclamation of the Word of God. What if someone stopped you in the hallway on the way out of church today and asked, “What ministry do you have?” Could you give a quick answer? I serve in the preschool, or I help in the parking lot, or I help greet people. There are many important ministries in the church. Find your place and glorify God in it.

Tomgram: Michael Klare, Twenty-First-Century Armageddons Posted by Michael Klare at 7:04AM, January 17, 2017. Follow TomDispatch on Twitter @TomDispatch. Heading into the Trump era, our American world already feels like it’s overheating badly. The headlines careen from the president-elect’s tweets against Meryl Streep (“one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood...!”) to conflicts over conflicts of interest to secret briefings by the intelligence community on highly compromising (but unsubstantiated and possibly completely insubstantial) “personal and financial information” about the president-elect supposedly gathered by the Russians, including sex videos of him with prostitutes in Moscow (“‘kompromat,’ or compromising material, with the possible goal of blackmailing Mr. Trump in the future”). The Trump-Russian “dossier,” paid for by his political opponents, including claims about contacts between his campaign and Russian officials, has reportedly been circulating for some time “among intelligence agencies, senior members of Congress, and other government officials in Washington.” In such an extreme hothouse atmosphere, it’s not surprising when even the most curious of figures can start to look like -- as one former State Department official testifying before Congress put it recently -- a “stabilizing and moderating force, preventing wildly stupid, dangerous, and illegal things from happening.” That was Eliot Cohen discussing retired Marine General James “Mad Dog” Mattis, Trump’s nominee for secretary of defense, and it’s true that if you’re comparing him to retired Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, the new national security adviser, or Mike Pompeo, the prospective head of the CIA, Mattis may indeed look remarkably sane and even moderate. But let’s try to keep things in perspective. Recently, the Washington Post featured a piece by Greg Jaffe and Adam Entous on General Mattis’s tenure as the head of U.S. Central Command that, amid the screaming headlines of this moment, came and went unnoticed. Embedded in it was this little gem: in 2011, when Iranian-backed insurgents in Iraq, using Iranian-supplied rockets, were killing American troops, Mattis grew increasingly incensed. As a result, he formulated a plan, which made it to (and was rejected by) the Obama White House, to launch a direct American “dead-of-night” attack on Iran either to take out a power plant or an oil refinery. This “World War III scenario” -- the willingness to take a chance, that is, on sparking a regional conflagration -- and the urge to act preemptively (including against “Iranian swarm boats” in the Persian Gulf) finally led to his being replaced as CENTCOM commander five months early. This, then, is what we know of the man generally agreed to be the sanest, most down-to-earth figure on Trump’s national security team. Keep that in mind as TomDispatch regular Michael Klare takes us on a quick tour of our present planetary hot spots (including Iran), any of which could blow sky high as Donald Trump and his team of “mad dogs” take office. Tom Escalation Watch Four Looming Flashpoints Facing President Trump By Michael T. Klare Within months of taking office, President Donald Trump is likely to face one or more major international crises, possibly entailing a risk of nuclear escalation. Not since the end of the Cold War has a new chief executive been confronted with as many potential flashpoints involving such a risk of explosive conflict. This proliferation of crises has been brewing for some time, but the situation appears especially ominous now given Trump’s pledge to bring American military force swiftly to bear on any threats of foreign transgression. With so much at risk, it’s none too soon to go on a permanent escalation watch, monitoring the major global hotspots for any sign of imminent flare-ups, hoping that early warnings (and the outcry that goes with them) might help avert catastrophe. Looking at the world today, four areas appear to pose an especially high risk of sudden crisis and conflict: North Korea, the South China Sea, the Baltic Sea region, and the Middle East. Each of them has been the past site of recurring clashes, and all are primed to explode early in the Trump presidency. Why are we seeing so many potential crises now? Is this period really different from earlier presidential transitions? Read more »
